Duffle Bags for Military and Travel
A military duffel bag is a large bag made of canvas or nylon with the closure at the top, or side zipper. Duffle bags known as military luggage but is now used as a typical travel bag for everyone. Duffles are durable, easy to pack or store when not in use and inexpensive.
The name comes from Duffel, a town in Belgium where the thick cloth used to make the bag originated. More recently, a duffel bag typically refers to the specific style of bag, though the phrase may also be used to refer to any large generic bag made of thick fabric.
It is often used to carry luggage or sports equipment by people who travel in the outdoors. Duffel bags are still used by military personnel and are standard issue today. When used by sailors, they are sometimes called seabags in this capacity.
