The peacoat's history goes back to the 1800's and circumvented the world.  Originating from the Dutch then making it to the U.S. Navy as a standard issue jacket.  Made of heavy duty wool as the best fabric option for cold and wet environment.  The double breasted design allows not only the dress look for officers but works to double wrap your chest. The Navy Peacoat's high lapel can also be buttoned up to the top along with it's flip up collar allows for extra protection and warmth.  Originally, The Pea Coat's vents were installed to allow a sailor hip room to climb the ropes and work without being restricted.  The Navy wool Peacoat has been a tradition for such a long time because it not only works but looks sharp then and still today.
